Audience Feedback

Once everyone had seen the film, I asked them what they thought of it and here is the feedback that was given:

Positive
There were a lot of positive feedback given about the from which I thought was really good. For example, I was told that the story line was very easy to follow. I thought that this was a big achievement made as sometimes it can be hard to follow a story line when watching a film for the first time. Another positive thing that the audience picked up on was the certain camera shots, especially the shot when the camera is focused on'Maris's' eyes and then fades into a flashback. The viewers said that they liked this as it almost gives them the thought of literally going into her mind to see what she is thinking about. They also mentioned that the flashback helped a lot with the story line as it tells you why Maria is doing what she is doing. Without this scene, it would be very confusing. The story line itself was also brought up in a very positive way. This is because these types of situations can be very common among young people and in some situations, girls can become a little bit psychopathic but do not usually go to these types of extremes. This is why it was mentioned as a good theme for a thriller film.

Negative
Although a lot of positive feedback was given, there was also some negative feedback given about the film. The first bit of negative feedback given was on the shot of when 'Laura' is walking out of her house and down the road. In the scene before Laura walks out of her home on the phone, Laura calls Carl. This leaves the viewers thinking that Maria has called Laura when she actually hasn't. Another thing that was wrong with this part of the film is when Laura is being filmed from the car. This clip only lasts around 2 or 3 seconds and is of poor quality. This is because when it was filmed, it was filmed free hand. However, this clip had to be put in the film as we would not have had another opportunity to from it again with the same car. This is because is was a teachers car and the teacher was very busy. There was also a negative point brought up about the kidnapping at the end. It was said that there should have been another shot of the kidnapping from a higher camera angle to get a better shot of the kidnapping and to also represent the vulnerability of  Laura.

Screening

Once we had finished filming and editing our thriller, I was desperate to show my friends. I did this by playing it on a big screen in the classroom and gathering my friends together to watch it. Before I showed my thriller opening to everyone, I explained to them what the storyline was and why we made the film in the first place. I told them how it was a project for media studies and that we had been studying the thriller genre which is why we made a thriller film.

Analysis of Rough Cut

When filming, we were advised to create a rough cut of our film before making the final piece. This was so that we could spot any mistakes that had been made and improve on this when we made the final film. We were also able to add on this by added certain effects.

We were able to share the rough cut with other people and were able to get their feedback on it. Their feedback would help us when making the final piece as they pointed us in the right direction to make the film better. As we were filming we were focusing on the more important aspects so by showing other people, they were able to spot the mistakes on the basic things.

The rough cut of our thriller was the whole film. We saw from this that there was many things that needed to be changed and added. For example there needed to be music added and some clips needed to be lengthened or shortened.

However, there were some advantages from this that we did not have to change such as certain camera shots. I also think that all of the scenes link with one another and there is no confusion or jumps in time that re too big when watching it.

Montage

A montage can be two things. The first type of montage is when the viewer interprets an emotion on someones face by knowing what they are looking at. The person on the screen may have the same face on but with different surroundings, the viewer is going to think that the emotion of this person is different.
The other type of montage is when a long period of time is shown in a few minute son the screen. An example of this would be in the "Rocky" films. This type of montage is famous in the rocky films when he is training. At the start of the montage Rocky is very unfit but at the end of the montage, which shows him training over a long period of time, Rocky is very fit and is ready for the fight that is coming up.

Editing 2

This video is a mixture of two clips we filmed on separate days. The first set of filming is of Maria in the office making the phone call to Carl and the second lot is of Carl in the car answering her phone call.

Editing 1

The first bit of editing we did was on the scene where Maria and David were arguing. As this scene is a flashback, a black and white filter was applied to emphasise this. A fade to white was also aded before and after this clip to make it look more like a flashback. It gives the viewers a sense of what Maria is thinking about. There will also be intercuts of Maria planning what she is going to do during the flashback. This will show that she is thinking about the situation whilst planning it.

Filming 2

On the second day of filming, I filmed Maria planning what she is join g to do to Laura. This scene was set in an office at her workplace. We actually filmed it in school but we moved some desks and chairs around to make it look like an office. In the scene, Maria finds out private information about Laura and whilst doing this she is having the flashback of her and her boyfriend arguing.

She then calls in one of her work colleagues as she wants his help with the plan. She asks him to kidnap her and asks if he is able to do it. The colleague, Carl, is up for doing the job and he gets someone else from the workplace, John, to help him.

On the day of doing the job, John and Carl are outside Laura's house in a car waiting for her to leave for work. They then get a phone call from Maria asking if they can see Laura, they can and at that moment they turn the car around and grab her. As John gets out of the car to get the girl, there are intercuts of Maria back in her office going to her filing cabin rand getting out a knife. This leaves the viewers thinking that she is going to kill her.

Filming 1

First Day of Filming

On the first day of filming, we filmed two different scenes at Aaliyah's house. The scenes that were filmed were the arguing scene between Maria and David and the scene that shows Laura leaving her house. The reason why we filmed these two scenes is because these were the only scenes that needed to be filmed inside a house.

In the arguing scene, Maria is Accusing David of cheating her and proves it by throwing the phone at him. On the phone Maria sees that another girl is leaving comments on David's pictures which he has uploaded to Facebook. Because of this, Maria instantly thinks that David is talking to other girls behind her back. Maria decides not to believe this as past relationships that she has been in have come to the same conclusion.

The second scene that we shot was the girl Laura leaving her house on the phone to her boss because she is running late. Laura is the girl that Maria sees leaving comments on Davids pictures. As she is walking out of the house, Maria has a plan to make her pay for what she did.

The camera is then stationary over her shoulder watching her do research, and it goes into a POV for a bit

A mid shot of maria getting up then it tracks me as she walks around the classroom. Then mid shots alternating when the accomplices and she talks.

A quick scene that shows the couple arguing.

This is a scene where the victim is on the phone to her boss and putting on her shoes and leaves out the house

Camera will be behind both people in the front of the car in the beginning then alternates from one window to the other when they talk then a POV of victim.

Maria is standing at the field, from the distance you can see the other criminals dragging victim to her.
Victim is chucked on the floor, whenever the camera is on her it is from a high angle perspective and when it is on Maria it is a low angle to show vulnerability vs. superiority.

Animatic

The animatic is a short video of each individual scene from our storyboard. They have been put in order to represent what happens in our film.

The animatic was created by taking pictures of each image on the storyboard using the schools camera. The images were then uploaded to the computer and by using Premier Pro, they were all put in order to make a short video. Sound was then added along with the title "Animatic of Stalker". The video has no writing in it as it is being presented as a cartoon version of the actual film.

Storyboard

To plan out our thriller, me and Aaliyah drew out a storyboard. The storyboard shows the key scenes of the film, describing how they will be shot when filmed and what sound will be involved in that scene. Also, notes were made to help us when filming and editing.
