Graphic Match
A graphic match is when one image fades into as another that has the same shape. It creates a smooth visual line from one line to the next. Graphic matches are used in many films. Examples of these films are: Schindler's List, Indiana Jones and War of the Worlds. In Schindler's List, the graphic match is used when the candle runs out. As the candle finishes smoke comes out of it and as the smoke rises it fades away and appears as steam coming out of a train. In the War of the Worlds, there is a double graphic match used. A rain drop of a leaf transfers itself into the world in space and then the world changes into a traffic light on the street.
